Module Builder: Drag & drop ordering on backend list

As a user, I would like to be able to use drag & drop to order the Module Builder items in the backend list.

This is the most awaited feature.

Makes no sense in the context of the cms. It's a content bucket like all if the types. You order on the front end based on sort expressions.

And what expression do you think you can use on the front-end? Publication date? And when you update any item in the module, your order changes. It's same what you use on Pages module.

+1 on this feature. The optimal experience would be for a content author to sort and manipulate order via a designer (clearly requires development) at design time. However, having an authoring experience on the backend screens provides a minimum authoring experience.

If we can do it with pages and lists...we should be able to do it with dynamic content items.

Yes, the publication date changes each time an item is published. To get constant, sortable values we've created custom date fields on many of our content types and use sort expressions to order the items in the front-end widgets. For example, we created a custom NewsReleaseDate field in the News content type and then sort the news items by this field in the news widget (Advanced --> ControlDefinition --> Views --> NewsFrontendList --> SortExpression = "NewsReleaseDate DESC")

    Was this ever done?

And to be clear: Are we talking about creating the custom module then on a page you drag and drop the generated widget onto the page and on then you click Edit > Content > Select content type, then you select a bunch of your custom items in the 'Select _content type_' dialog and finally in the 'Selected' tab of the same dialog you can drag items into the order that you desire?

If it is, then the functionality seems to be there, but Sitefinity doesn't seem to adhere to the order you specify... so why is the functionality there?
The designer/backend editing view seems to keep the order you specified between page edits, but the front end view doesn't.

It's not done, and it's the backend "list of items" screen we're talking about

Please do this enhancement. We've had to get creative with our order based on a different field, but is not 100% accurate.

Not an ideal solution but one I use currently for the client is the Falafel software one

    https://blog.falafel.com/reordering-dynamic-module-items-with-action-menu/

Some of the code doesn't work as expected still as they changed the way the Dynamic Modules are created in Sitefinity 9.2 but small adjustments to the ordinal service allow it to re-order with an action menu

This functionality exists on the documents module already, you can order those in the list view and sort them on the front end:

    http://knowledgebase.progress.com/articles/Article/How-to-sort-Downlaod-List-widget-the-same-way-documents-are-ordered-in-OrderDocuments-screen

Could something similar to this be available for all content?

Also interested in this feature so we can order custom content items in a user-controlled sequence without relying on manual ordinal updates!

Does anyone from Sitefinity ever respond to this?

Does anyone from Sitefinity ever respond to this?
    >> I wouldn't count on it. If you write their custom support, you usually only get a vague answer back that is besides the point, or try to sell their "professional services" at an extremely high hour rate...

+1 how many people have to upvote this in order for Sitefinity to consider implementing it?
