Image content location

As an administrator I would like "Pages where Images are published" to find images displayed with every type of widget, not only "Image" and "Image gallery" widgets.

I would also like it to find images in (custom) content items.

I have created a dynamic content item and would like to see the pages where this is used but it is not detected...??

I concur that this should be updated in a future fix. It is also would be a very helpful feature as other CMS systems have something like this already. It is crazy this was released without it in mind

Isn't this a basic feature that should be included in Sitefinity 7? It's a hell of a job to update pictures throughout a website if you don't know where they're used. With 24 likes, it's time to implement this I would say.

When our old website was migrated to sitefinity, it came with hundreds of images. Many of them are old and need to be deleted. I am surprised there is no way to see which are unused so I can delete them.

Similarly, I have multiple versions of the same logo, but am afraid to delete any of them because I don't know which are in use where.

I learned that in order for custom widgets to support this, one has to implement the IContentLocatableView interface. But even then it does not fully work due to this bug: http://feedback.telerik.com/Project/153/Feedback/Details/181259-only-the-last-filtered-content-on-a-page-has-correct-location

This is one of the most commonly requested features by most of our customers.
Is there any chance we will get an indication of this is going to be addressed any time soon? The request is several years old.
We're under pressure to write our own routines to support this request, but it is something we would expect to come from the CMS, and anything we write would potentially not be upgrade safe, so we're keen to have some direction on this.

The bug is still reproducible with widgets different than Image and Image gallery.

Any reason why this request has been ignored by Telerik support and/or product development since Dec 2013?
Has anyone in the user community implemented a workaround or custom fix for this issue?

I would like images that appear in Content Blocks, are rendered in Feather dynamic content widgets, or are displayed in my custom MVC widgets all to appear in the list of "where this item can be found."

    Thank you.

Yeah, it's something that's missing a little bit....

You know, even taking it a step further, I've got projects where the client is often wondering "What pages/templates have I used XXX widget on?"

And some of these sites are BIG! So anyway, we've had to write some pretty ugly custom code to expose that functionality...

The "Where is this used?" question is a very common one for real CMS editor users, but not one us developer types think of much, until we've had to deal with the editors!

    It's really important

Well if they just dont put "Where is this used" in the new UI... problem solved? :/ :D

There are lot of times when we need to clean up the website so it would be good if there is a feature which can tell which page an image is been used and image can be in content blocks, widget designers etc. Is there any possibility whether this feature would be implemented by Telerik in the any of the upcoming releases or is there any custom solution available as a workaround?

4 years and 54 votes later it's about time to give us a way to really manage images in Sitefinity.

Hi All, I am also want to support this initiative in implementation mechanism that would flag what images are published on the front end. Hope to see this in new update.

I've already liked this feature request, but since I'm finding myself dealing with problems stemming from not being able to properly track images I want to explain my scenario. My institution has thousands of images in our CMS dating around a 4+ year timeframe. At least a thousand of those are currently not in use and need to be removed to trim down our bloated DB size and to remove clutter overall. Right now we're working on a custom solution, but between the scattered documentation and many custom widgets and dynamic modules that use images this has proven difficult.

For all of the recently usability and interface improvements to Sitefinity it's strange how this usability issue has not been fixed, or even acknowledged since June 2016. At 5 years and 55 likes, even a post saying they understand our concerns and will work to implement a fix in a future release would be something to hold on to.

    Dear All,
This feature request is on our priority list and will be considered when we plan the redesign of Sitefinity Digital Asset Management, part of our overall user experience improvements project.

This feature is hugely important, and I'm shocked that it's not working. I work for the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. We recently adopted Sitefinity as our CMS, and we'll be building tens of thousands of pages of content in the Medical School alone. It's going to be a huge problem for us if we can't accurately find all the pages in which a particular image is used. Antoaneta Tsaneva, can you tell us more about the redesign of Sitefinity Digital Asset Management? (Like when it's happening?) I'm very concerned after reading this thread and seeing how long a problem of this magnitude has gone unaddressed.

    Dear Dan,
We are now in the process of evaluating and scoping the features and improvements for the next year. One of our primary goals for next year would be to focus on redesigning Images management in Sitefinity. At this point, I cannot share more information and details about which features will make it for the next release. Content location for Images is in our priority list and will be evaluated.
Are you interested in joining me on a call where we could discuss your scenarios and use cases? Please, let me know if that works for you, and I will send a meeting invite.

    Kindest regards,
    Antoaneta Tsaneva
